Weldstar is a Title Sponsor at the Local Bowl For Kids’ Sake Fundraiser in Logansport
Thanks for supporting Bowl for Kids’ Sake
Over 500 residents of Cass County turned out for the 32nd annual Bowl For Kids’ Sake fundraiser for Big Brothers Big Sisters last Saturday, March 3. This year’s theme was “Pirates: Every Child a Treasure!” Bowlers ate free pizza from Bruno’s, slurped sodas Pepsi donated and listened intently for their numbers to be called for any of 90 door prizes given by local establishments. Participants bowled in five time slots throughout the day. Some in attendance donned eye patches, three-corner hats or pirate boots, vying for a prize for best costume — while the rest simply hoped to have the winning ticket to the 50-50 cash raffle announced each session.
Big Brothers Big Sisters program participants showed up for the event as well. Two of the mentor-youth matches traded activity ideas while knocking down the pins.
“It was a really exciting time,” said Sheri Ward, who became a Big Sister in December of last year to Little Sister Kara Miller. The “sisters” bowled with Ward’s husband, Randy, and another match: Jennifer Hughes and Angelina Miguel. “She had a blast,” Ward said of Little Sister Miller. “She was excited; she was enthusiastic; she had so much fun!” The matches look forward to seeing each other at the next program event. The support the matches receive, as well as the events they attend, would not be possible without the giving spirit of this community.
We would especially like to thank our Title Sponsors, who each contributed to the fundraiser at the $2,000 level: Weldstar and Community State Bank.
Other generous supporters include our single Strike Sponsor, LMC Workholding, at the $1,500 level and Dilling, which sponsored in the amount of $1,000.
We are grateful to our four Spare Sponsors ($750): Security Federal, Managed Health Services (MHS, based in Indianapolis), Revolution Community Church and Steinberger Construction.
A thank you as well to our nine Split Sponsors ($500): Logansport Savings Bank, Logansport Noon Kiwanis, Matthew Warren Industries, Carter Fuel Systems, Lehigh, Small Parts, Inc., Sheryl Pherson (Pherson for Judge), Beacon Credit Union and Ed Shroder (Shroder for Sheriff).
