NOW AVAILABLE! The Fronius TransSteel 2200 is a compact, 3-in-1 welding solution and we want to be the first to introduce you to this fantastic welder. It is the very first single-phase inverter power source from Fronius that is also multiprocess-capable, bringing together MMA, MIG/MAG and TIG in a compact single device. The TransSteel 2200 is characterizedby the intelligent design of the device, ease of use, robustness and the high level of reliability that you've come to know with Fronius-branded equipment. Weighing only 15.5 kg (a little over 34lb), it is also one of the lightest devices on the market.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS ABOUT THE 2200:
Q. Does this unit come with a foot pedal, or can I purchase one separately?
A. No, the TransSteel 2200 (TIG Version) supports lift-arc TIG, and Fronius does not offer a foot pedal for it.
Q. What size wire spools fit in the 2200?
A. The TransSteel 2200 officially supports 1lb, 5lb and 10lb spools. It will also support most 11lb spools. It cannot hold a 1lb and a larger size at the same time. 33lb or 44lb spools WILL NOT fit this unit.
Q. What is the thickest material I can weld with this machine?
A.The general rule for possible material thicknesses is 1 amp per 0.001 of material thickness. For MIG and TIG on 120V input power you can weld up to 3/16. For 240V input power you can go up to . You can also use SMAW on this machine and weld any thickness steel.
Q. Can I weld 6010 rod with this machine effectively?
A. The TransSteel line is not capable of running 6010 electrodes. The TransPocket series has a cellulose setting, in addition to the TPSi family because it has a constant power characteristic for stick welding which allows for cellulose rods to be used.
Q. Canthe TransSteel 2200 do AC TIG?
A.No, the Fronius TransSteel 2200 is not capable of AC TIG.
Q.What consumables do I need to swap out to weld .045 aluminum wire?
A.To help with this common question we've put together a kit where you can buy everything other than the aluminum wire itself. The machine comes set up for .030/035 so you'd need to swap out the items on this list. You do not need a spool gun to use aluminum wire on this machine.
