With a total of 10 branch locations and a legacy built on safety, service, and long-standing customer relationships, we are seeking a dynamic Outside Technical Sales Representative in University Park, Illinois, to help lead us into our next chapter of growth and company excellence.

The Outside Technical Sales Representative will report to the Sales Manager and is responsible for increasing sales and gross profit by establishing new customers and expanding business with existing customers within an assigned territory.

This is a strategic and tactical sales role—balancing big-picture planning with boots-on-the-ground execution.

  • Grow the territory business through solution selling compressed gas products and welding supplies along with innovative welding technology to new and existing customers
  • Develop and execute plans to maintain and grow the existing customer base
  • Negotiate pricing, terms and conditions and project scope with existing and new customers
  • Utilize Outlook, TIMS, or other company designated platforms for planning, scheduling, and professional time management of the assigned sales territory
  • Develop long-term relationships with strategic customers, facilitate product supply agreements, and develop a sales territory customer portfolio with long term targeted customers
  • Respond to and solve customer issues or concerns by deploying necessary company resources.
  • Maintain and demonstrate a positive attitude with all team members, customers, vendors and other business partners
  • Meet goals and objectives set by management
  • Report incidents immediately and support a strong safety culture.
  • Perform other related duties as needed.

Required Skills, Abilities and Education

  • College degree preferred (B.A., B.S.) or equivalent; OR five years related industry experience and/or training; or a combination of the above.
  • Prior experience in an outside sales setting, industrial sales experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of safety and regulatory compliance in industrial environments.
  • Welding, specialty gases or industry knowledge.
  • Strong organization and time management capabilities.
  • Able to lift or move small office machines, inventory stock, boxes, office supplies, etc. which may weigh up to 50 – 75 pounds.
  • Strong critical thinking skills
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Capable of regularly using computers, office equipment (fax, copier, etc.)
  • Maintain valid driver’s license
  • Operating hours are Monday – Friday from 7:30am – 4:30pm.

Pay Range and Benefits:

The disclosed pay range is based on a consideration of neutral factors and criteria such as required qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certification, seniority and more.

Pay Range: $60,000 - $65,000 annually
