Position Summary
The CDL A Delivery Driver will report to the Warehouse Manager and be responsible for correct, timely and safe delivery of Weldstar gas and welding supplies to our customers’ locations. You will work effectively and professionally in a team environment with minimum supervision and maintain a positive working relationship with customers and employees, providing great customer service. Typical work hours are Monday - Friday, 7:30am -4pm with a 30 minute unpaid lunch.
Essential Functions:
- Complete the orderly loading of 30’ – 35’ trucks which ensures the efficient use of time and scheduling of delivery routes. Same day routes within an average of 100 miles of branch location.
- Load, deliver and unload cylinders and products to customers while abiding by load safety, DOT and general safe driving guidelines.
- Maneuvering, lifting, and carrying cylinders and welding materials in excess of 50 lbs. and pushing/pulling items up to 1000 lbs. with proper assistance.
- Handling, storing, securing, nesting cylinders and constructing clusters according to Weldstar Company procedures.
- Complete daily pickup and unloading of cylinder product empties from the customer. Ensure the cylinder balances are correct with shipments and returns.
- Operating phones, digital scales, scanners, forklifts, pallet jacks, hand carts and various hand tools in accordance with safety standards.
- Where possible, listen to and resolve customer complaints. When necessary, provide feedback to the office regarding customer complaints or issues on pricing, quality, credit or need for sales representative follow-up.
- Perform pre and post trip inspections.
- Assist in product barcoding cylinders by using TIMS program
- Performing other related duties as assigned.
Some Required Skills/Abilities:
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Good mechanical aptitude – Providing analytical and troubleshooting skills
- Vision correctable within normal range for vehicle driving and completion of reports.
- Capable of working in diverse and often unpleasant weather conditions (below freezing to over 100 degrees).
- Good knowledge of the regulatory requirements supporting facilities operation, manufacturing and distribution environments.
- Able to read and comprehend material safety data sheets.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess and maintain a Class A CDL and a valid US DOT Medical Examiner’s certificate. Must have and maintain a Hazmat Endorsement
- Successful completion of DOT pre-employment drug-screen and physical and company specific physical demands assessment.
- Clean driving record 5+ years
- A minimum of 6 months of experience driving or proof of completion of a driving school
- Prior experience in a warehouse distribution setting preferred
Physical Demands & Work Environment
- Position requires prolonged sitting, occasional bending, stooping, squatting, kneeling, twisting/turning, stairs/ladder, crawling and climbing.
- Subject to noise; there is sufficient noise to cause the need to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
- Subject to hazards; includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles.
- This position operates indoors about 70% and outdoors about 30% of the time.
- Operating forklifts, manual pallet jacks, and carts to keep facilities clean and orderly.

Pay Range and Benefits:
The disclosed pay range is based on a consideration of neutral factors and criteria such as required qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certification, seniority and more.
Pay Range: $29- $30.00
Weldstar reserves the right to offer the selected candidate or applicant an hourly rate or salary at an appropriate level to be set and determined by the employer that is commensurate with the applicant’s qualifications, experience, education, skill, training, certification, and/or seniority.
